Some people specialize. Shane Huey does the opposite — deliberately.
An ultralearner by nature and method, he has applied the same systematic intensity to medicine, fitness, technology, language, and the science of human performance.
A polymath, polyglot, athlete, and scholar of human potential, he researches and writes on meta-learning, philosophy, health, fitness, technology, and language with one animating concern: how human beings can think, learn, perform, and live at their highest level.
Wide range. Consistent lens. No wasted motion.
CV
Shane Huey, MS, MBA, RN Healthcare IT | Information Security | Legal Nurse Consulting | HIPAA & EHR Advisory
Professional Summary
I work at the intersection of clinical nursing, information technology, compliance, and legal consulting — bringing a perspective that most healthcare IT consultants can't offer and most clinicians don't have. My work spans EHR design and build, HIPAA security risk assessments, EHR advisory, and legal nurse consulting for attorneys navigating medically complex cases. The credential stack is unusual by design — MS in Information Security, MBA in IT Management, RN — because the problems worth solving rarely fit a single discipline.

I have always been insatiably curious — about the world, about the mind, about what it means to live and perform at the highest level. That curiosity has driven me across an unusually wide range of disciplines: Religious Studies, Norse & Celtic Mythology, Philosophy, Cognitive Neuroscience, Business & IT Management, Information Security, Criminal Profiling & Forensics, Nursing, Personal Training, Nutrition, Men's Health, and Wilderness & Disaster Medicine.
Professionally, I work at the intersection of health care and healthcare IT — as both clinician and analyst. My roles have spanned direct clinical practice, systems analysis, integration architecture, and interface engineering. What draws me to this space is the same thing that draws me everywhere else: the convergence point, where two seemingly separate domains reveal a deeper, unified logic.
The body is not separate from this pursuit. I am a martial artist, athlete, and adventurer — someone who has always believed that philosophy without physicality is incomplete. Training, competing, and moving through demanding environments are not hobbies layered on top of intellectual life; they are inseparable from it. The mat and the mountains have taught me things no classroom could.
My curiosity extends to the written word as well. I am a published author with short stories, poetry, and haiku having appeared in a variety of literary journals — a reminder that precision of expression is its own discipline, and that the examined life is worth rendering thoughtful and, where possible, beautifully.
That instinct toward unification defines everything I do here. My core interests are meta-learning, philosophy, and human performance — or more simply, self-mastery. I am less interested in accumulating knowledge across fields than in synthesizing it: finding the underlying principles that connect language acquisition, physical training, Stoic discipline, and cognitive science into a coherent practice of living.
This site is the record of that pursuit. Not aggregation — syncretization.

There is always something on the table — a language being stress-tested, a physical limit being probed, a skill being rebuilt from the ground up. Currently:
The Hybrid Athlete Problem Building and maintaining muscle and a classic aesthetic physique while simultaneously preparing to run 50 miles across the mountains of Colorado in September. Strength and endurance are often framed as opposing pursuits. Finding the synthesis is the experiment.
Japanese — Pushing Toward N3 Returning to serious study of Japanese with a focus on kanji and grammar. The target is formal N3 certification by March 2027. A structured goal imposed on what is otherwise an obsessive hobby.
Back on the Mat After a month away post injury, back to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The goal is a meaningful level advancement before the end of 2026 — which, after a hiatus, means rebuilding before accelerating.
